Compounded Medication Notice

The semaglutide and tirzepatide products offered through The UXM Telehealth are custom-compounded medications prepared by licensed U.S. pharmacies. These compounded medications are not FDA-approved. Compounding is permitted under federal law when FDA-approved versions are in shortage.

RISK OF THYROID C-CELL TUMORS

Semaglutide and tirzepatide cause thyroid C-cell tumors in rodents. It is unknown whether they cause thyroid C-cell tumors, including medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), in humans. 

DO NOT USE if you or any family member have ever had:

• Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC)

• Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)

• If you have had a serious allergic reaction to semaglutide, tirzepatide, or any ingredients

Prescription Requirement

All medications require a valid prescription from a licensed healthcare provider. Not all patients will qualify for treatment. Our physicians evaluate each case individually based on medical history, current health status, and appropriateness of treatment.

Serious Side Effects

Stop taking this medication and seek medical attention immediately if you experience:

Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas): Severe stomach pain that will not go away, with or without vomiting

Gallbladder Problems: Pain in the upper right side of your stomach, fever, yellowing of skin or eyes, clay-colored stools

Kidney Problems: Decreased urination, swelling in legs or ankles, confusion, nausea

Severe Allergic Reactions: Swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat, difficulty breathing, severe rash or itching, fast heartbeat, dizziness

Low Blood Sugar (Hypoglycemia): Dizziness, shakiness, confusion, sweating, headache (especially if taking with other diabetes medications)

Vision Changes: Blurred vision or other changes in vision

Depression or Suicidal Thoughts: Thoughts of suicide, new or worsening depression, anxiety, mood changes

Common Side Effects

The most common side effects include:

Nausea (usually decreases over time)
Diarrhea or constipation
Vomiting
Stomach (abdominal) pain
Headache
Fatigue
Upset stomach or indigestion
Dizziness
Bloating or gas
Decreased appetite

These are not all the possible side effects. Contact your healthcare provider for medical advice about side effects.

Before Taking This Medication

Tell your healthcare provider if you:

Have or have had kidney, liver, or pancreatic problems
Have or have had depression or suicidal thoughts
Have diabetic retinopathy complications
Are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding
Are taking other medications (including over-the-counter drugs and supplements)
Have a history of gastroparesis (slow stomach emptying)

Drug Interactions

These medications may affect how other drugs work. Tell your doctor about all medications, especially:

Insulin or other diabetes medications (increased risk of low blood sugar)
Oral medications (may affect absorption due to slowed digestion)
